Lady Lakers Win 16th District Basketball Title
2010.02.26 by Alex Hoover, WLKR News Staff

The RCHS Lady Laker Basketball team traveled to Clinton County High School on Thursday, February 25 to compete in the championship game of the 16th District Tournament. The Lady Lakers came away victorious, and beat the Lady Bulldogs 55 to 41. This is the first district title for the Lady Lakers in 17 years.

The girls fought hard in the first half, and came back after halftime ahead by one point. The second half of the game proved to be even better for the Lady Lakers, and they finished the game with a 14 point lead to earn the title of District Champions. Freshmen Heather Owens made her varsity debut in the last final seconds, and made two foul shots to end the game. Junior Lindsay Ramage led the Lady Lakers with 17 points and 12 rebounds.

The Lady Lakers will travel to E.A. Diddle Arena at Western Kentucky University next week to compete in 4th Region Tournament. Best of luck to the Lady Lakers!
